Challenge Cup semi-final confirmed

Walton Casuals will travel to Sutton Common Rovers for the Southern Combination Challenge Cup Semi-Final on Monday 13 March.

The Stags face the Combined Counties outfit after beating Sandhurst Town, British Airways and Godalming Town as one of just four teams to enter the competition in the first round. The hosts have beaten Epsom Athletic and Horsley to progress to the final four.

Sutton currently battle relegation in the ninth tier, but have named a host of former Stags in their line-up throughout the season. Sean Bradley, Ben Ewing, Danny Fernandes have all appeared for the Commoners this year, while Elton Djoni, Liam Holden, Jordan Johnson-Palmer, Arnold Okiror, Matt Robinson and Craig Bradshaw are listed as current squad members.

The Casuals also name a former player in their ranks, with recent arrival Kevant Serbony enjoying a brief spell at Gander Green Lane prior to his move to Church Road.

Walton Casuals have never won the Southern Combination Challenge Cup in their history, but a home final is on offer for the winner. Molesey, Bedfont & Feltham, Staines Town and Camberley Town remain in the competition, with Molesey named back-to-back winners in recent seasons.

Anthony Gale’s men will take to the away changing rooms at Sutton shortly after Arsenal in their FA Cup clash with landlords Sutton United.
