Stags sign Matt Anton

Walton Casuals have completed the signing of prolific striker Matt Anton from Ryman Division One South rivals Godalming Town.

The 28-year-old is now in hisĀ fourth spell alongside assistant manager Dean Thomas, having worked with the former manager at Godalming & Farncombe Athletic, Guildford City and the G’s.

Anton started his career in the lower leagues with 47 goals in a single season with Athletic. Following Thomas to Combined Counties outfit Guildford, he then scooped the Supporters’ Player of the Season, Manager’s Player of the Season and Player’s Player of the season. Adding 14 goals to his personal tally, he also claimed the Golden Boot award.

Following a brief stint with Godalming Town this season, Anton made his Casuals debut in the recent 3-2 victory over British Airways in the Southern Combination Challenge Cup.

We wish Matt the very best in his time at Church Road and look forward to seeing him in action.
